The
Topeka RoadRunners and the Kansas Expocentre today presented The
Fraternal Order of Police Foundation (FOP Foundation) with a check for
$2,116 to send the families of CPL David Gogian and OFC Jeff Atherly to
Washington DC for the National Police Week Memorial.
The
money was raised during the RoadRunners March 1st game against the
Wichita Falls Wildcats. One dollar from each ticket sold that day was
collected by the team with the Expocentre making a matching donation.
“This
helps out tremendously,” said FOP Foundation Vice President Steve
Evans. “The families have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of
support from the community. They are very grateful to get the
opportunity to see the names of their loved ones on the memorial in DC.
On their behalf, I want to express our heartfelt thanks for what the
RoadRunners, the Expo and the people of Topeka have done to make this
possible.”
Those who wish to make further donations to the FOP Foundation can do so on-line at their website, www.fop3foundation.com, by clicking on the donation button.
