Missouri
lawmakers have signed off on a bill establishing tax credits for
amateur events, in the hopes of attracting more sporting events to the
state, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
The
state has been unable to compete with other states that offer the
incentives. This plan gives sponsors a credit of $5 a ticket for events
brought to Missouri, with a total cap at $3 million.
Critics say that sporting events sometimes have a negative impact, as local residents stay home to avoid crowds.
