The
Missouri Mavericks (32-24-6) were shut out by the Quad City Mallards,
6-0, Sunday evening at i wireless Center. Mallards’ goaltender John
Murray stopped all 35 shots he faced for his second shutout of the
season. Patrik Levesque scored two goals and added an assist for the
Mallards as they moved to within four points of the Mavericks. Missouri
was shutout for the fourth time this season but first time since Nov.
30. The Mavericks are back in action on Tuesday, March 19 in
Bloomington. Missouri will return home on Friday, March 22 for their
final home game of the regular season.
Mickey
Lang scored the lone goal of the first period for the Mallards and
Missouri was forced to kill three power play opportunities in the
opening period.
In the second period, the Mallards scored a pair of goals just 54 seconds apart and they held a 3-0 lead through two periods.
Mavericks’
head coach Scott Hillman was ejected from the game for protesting the
ruling of the Mallards’ fourth goal. The puck looked to stay in front of
the goal line on Levesque’s shot, but it stood as a goal.
Levesque and Obi Aduba each added another goal to finalize the scoring at 6-0.
Missouri
has just one more regular season game remaining in the 2012-13 season.
Missouri will host Tulsa on Friday, March 22 at Independence Events
Center.
