The
Missouri Mavericks, in conjunction with the Central Hockey League
(CHL), announced Monday Mavericks’ forward Kellan Tochkin has been named
the Oakley CHL Player of the Week for the period ending February 10,
2013. In recognition of his achievement, Tochkin will receive a special
gift from Oakley.
Tochkin
finished with 10 points on four goals and six assists and helped guide
the Mavericks to three wins in four games over the week. The rookie
forward started the week by scoring the tying goal and assisting on the
winning goal in a 4-3 win over Quad City. He followed that up with a
pair of four-point performances in two Mavericks’ wins on Saturday and
Sunday and he assisted on the game-winning goal in each of those wins as
well. On Saturday, the Abbotsford, British Columbia native had a goal
and three assists, and he finished the week with two goals and two
assists in a 6-3 win over Bloomington.
Prior
to this week, the rookie forward had 15 points (7-8=15) in 32 games
played. After going scoreless in seven games, Tochkin has scored safely
in five out of the Mavericks’ last six games. Overall, he has 25
points (11-14=25) in 36 games played with a +2 rating.
