UMKC
is continuing its longtime partnership with the Downtown Kansas City
Council, being represented in Friday's exhibition at the lobby of the
Grand Ballroom of the Convention Center, as well as teaming up for a
Group Night at the January 3 men's basketball game against South Dakota
State at Municipal Auditorium.
The
University as a whole is involved with the Downtown Council and will be
representing at the annual luncheon, with more than 1,000 business
leaders from the community in attendance. UMKC is sharing the story of
the athletics program - and the university.
The
game on Thursday, January 3 against South Dakota State will start at
7:05 p.m., and is one of three games the men's basketball team is
playing downtown at Municipal Auditorium (also Dec. 19 vs. Iowa State
and Jan. 5 vs. North Dakota State). The partnership for the contest
gives fans an opportunity to get a ticket, hot dog, and beer or soda for
only $15. Fans can also get just a ticket for $5. Contact the UMKC
ticket office at 816-235-2572, or get the deal online at
UMKCKangaroos.com/tickets, with the promotion code "Downtown" to get it
in advance.
The Downtown Council
is a longtime partner of UMKC, as both organizations share a dedication
to supporting and revitalizing the urban core, including Downtown. In
recent months, the Council has been a strong and vocal supporter of
UMKC's efforts to create a Downtown Campus for the Arts,
a project that would greatly enhance both UMKC arts programs, and the
university as a whole, while generating significant economic development
opportunities.
