Well,
I was not sure whether to do a weekend preview since the end of the
world is happening this Friday. Just in case I will go ahead and write
one anyway.
There are plenty of things to do this holiday weekend. Too many for me to name her but you can find all of them at Explore Kansas City. They have Kansas City covered from A to Z.
The
two movies that are opening this weekend are ‘This Is 40 ’ (a sort of
sequel to ‘Knocked Up’) and ‘Jack Reacher’ (in limited release but will
be playing at some AMC theaters). So if you are in the mood for a comedy
or an action flick you are covered. And don’t forget the the juggernaut
that is ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ in case you were not one of
the two trillion persons to see it last weekend.
As far as sports go. On Friday the Mavericks will be hosting the Allen Americans at the Independence Events Center. The first 1,000 fans at the game will receive a fleece blanket courtesy of American Family Insurance. On Saturday they travel to Fort Worth to battle the Texas Brahmas. There will be a watch party at the Brewtop Pub and Patio in Lee’s Summit.
The Comets are out of town this weekend. They travel down I‐35 to take on the Wichita Wings at Hartman Arena on Friday.
At
the Sprint Center on Saturday the K‐State Wildcats play the Florida
Gators. The Wildcats look for a repeat of their 71-58 victory at Sprint
Center last year against the Alabama Crimson Tide. With the return of
four starters, including two-time All-Big 12 performer Rodney McGruder,
the Cats are looking forward to another strong performance and preparing
for the Big 12 Championship in March. Tipoff is set for 7:00pm. Tickets
are still available and are $12, $22, $32, $62. The
Missouri Rhythm take on Livin the Dream at 3:00pm on Saturday afternoon
at Eastside Baptist Church (19901 East US Highway 78. Independence Mo).
The game is a fundraiser for a local charity, Caresa's Hope (www.caresahope.org). All tickets are only $5.00 and they will be giving away a 7 day cruise, bbq grill, and more good stuff for the holidays.
The Topeka RoadRunners are on Christmas Break this week but will return to action next weekend at the Kansas Expocentre.
Happy Holidays Everyone
