Having
lost playing a hard fought and disciplined game on Friday, Amarillo
reverted to the team we all know and love in their 2-1 win over Topeka.
With
five players in the penalty box (three Runners, two Bulls) at 11:53 in
the first, Ryan Cole scored on the power play to give Amarillo a 1-0
lead. The first period saw 63 combined penalty minutes. The game amassed
a total 93 penalty minutes and one ejection on a phantom Obscene
Gesture call.
A
scoreless second gave way to a busy third. Clint Carlisle wasted no
time in extending the Bulls lead to two with his unassisted goal at :17.
Brandon Brossoit gave the Runners a glimmer of hope with his netter at
4:16. Amarillo fought off two RoadRunner power plays before capitalizing
on an empty net in the final minutes to seal a 3-1 victory.
The
loss ends Topeka’s three game winning streak and drops them to 10
points behind the division leading Texas Tornado. The RoadRunners look
to get back on the winning track next weekend against the Corpus Christi
Ice Rays.
