The Central Hockey League announced Tuesday Missouri Mavericks’ goaltender Mike Clemente has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League (CHL) Goaltender of the Week for the period ending January 6, 2013.
Clemente
backstopped three wins for the Mavericks during the week and started it
off with a 35-save shutout over the Tulsa Oilers on New Year’s Eve. He
guided the Mavericks to a pair of wins over the Wichita Thunder and
Denver Cutthroats over the weekend and helped Missouri move into third
place in the CHL. The Great Falls, Virginia native followed his shutout
performance by tying the CHL’s season high with 49 saves in a 4-2 win
over the Thunder on Friday night. The 6-foot-2, 198-pound netminder
finished his stellar week by stopping 20 of 21 shots and five of eight

In
his rookie season, Clemente currently leads all goaltenders with 15

the Month for October. Overall, the 22-year-old is 15-4-3 with a 3.01
goals against average and a .901 save percentage. The first-year goalie
