Well,
this weekend is a big one for home openers for Kansas City teams. The
Mavericks, Comets and UMKC Kangaroos all have their first home games of
the season. So if you want to get out this weekend and see a sporting
event you have no excuse.
The
Comets will be looking for a MISL victory to kick off the home schedule
at the Independence Events Center. They will be taking on interstate
rival Wichita Wings at 7:35 this friday. The first 3,000 fans will
receive a 2012‐2013 schedule magnet.
On
Saturday afternoon the Power and Light District is hosting the Fall
14th Street Wine Walk from 3PM-6PM. Enjoy a tasting of six premium wines
paired with six delicious small plates at Maker's Mark Bourbon House & Lounge, Bar Louie, Bristol Seafood Grill, The Kill Devil Club, Drunken Fish Sushi Restaurant & Lounge, & The Garment District Boutique. A limited number of tickets are available – so get yours today. Click here fore more Info
The
home opener weekend continues at the Independence Events Center on
Saturday, when the CHL’s Missouri Mavericks take on another team from
Wichita, the Thunder at 7:05. Early arriving fans will receive a black
cowbell. A few tickets remain for the game so act fast if you want to
attend the game.
If
basketball is your game then you are also in luck. The UMKC Kangaroos
will be hosting the Ottawa University Braves in a preseason exhibition
game at the Swinney Recreation Center at 7:05.
If
you are into movies, Flight, The Man with the Iron Fists and Wreck-It
Ralph all open this weekend. I have seen an advanced preview of Wreck-It
Ralph and it is a fun movie for both the kids and the adults. So if you
want to make a day of it with your family (and have the money to do
it). I suggest hitting the local cineplex in the afternoon and then
catching a game that night.
Also,
the Sprint Center is having a contest. Upload photos of your favorite
Sprint Center moment to win four tickets to one event of your choice in
2013. Click here for more information.
That is all for now. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
