Renegades Drops Opener to Beef 38-27

The Renegades lost their season opener at Kemper Sunday, 38-27. Two Kansas City interceptions from inside the 20 cost the Renegades. KC’s offense threw a total of four interceptions on the day.
“Our timing was a little off today,” Renegades quarterback Dennis Gile said. “It’ll get better as we spend more time together. It’s something we’re going to need to fix for Sioux City.”
Kansas City held a 21-17 lead at halftime after Gile threw across his body to find running back OJ Simpson for a touchdown on fourth and goal right before the half. That score was part of a 21-point quarter that also featured a bomb from Gile to Anthony Parks, who smashed into the back padding of the endzone wall but managed to hold on.
Omaha’s defense tightened in the second half, and they held KC to just one more score, a one-yard Keith Valentine run late that cut Omaha’s lead to eleven, where it would stay.
Kansas City travels Friday to play the Sioux City Bandits at 7:05. The game will be broadcast locally on 102.9 FM and 1140 AM.
