Russell Stover Hockey Tier I To Partner With Jr. Mavs Hockey Organization

The nationally recognized Russell Stover Tier 1 AAA Hockey Program has agreed to partner with the Jr. Mavs Hockey Organization for the upcoming 2013-14 season. Russell Stover will change their name and become the "Kansas City Mavs Elite". KC Mavs Elite will continue to compete in the Tier I Elite League nationally and offer teams at the 18U and 16U Midget levels along with offering birth year teams at Bantam and Peewee levels.
"Russell Stover has a tradition of being one of the top Tier 1 AAA programs in the country. We are excited about this partnership and believe our organizational resources will provide additional opportunities to attract the best players throughout the Midwest and nationally," states Dennis King, Jr. Mavs Vice President of Hockey Operations.
"Heading into our 10th season of Tier I hockey in Kansas City, I am excited about our partnership with the Missouri Mavericks and Jr. Mavs organizations," said Don Burns, Russell Stover Hockey Director. "It was clear in our talks we shared the same philosophies to move the program forward for future seasons."
Additional details of the partnership are still being finalized and will be released over the next couple of weeks. Russell Stover coaches Mike Kempkes, Matt Buss, & Scott Krueger will return this season to handle coaching duties at the Bantam and Peewee levels.
Tryouts for these teams will be held on May 24-26, 2013 at Independence Events Center. More information about these tryouts, along with registration and costs, will be released shortly and may be found under the Tier 1 page at the Jr. Mavs Hockey website, www.jrmavshockey.com .
The Jr. Mavs Hockey Organization operates under the Mid America Hockey Association (MAHA) www.midamericahockey.org ) as its governing body and is incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.
