The
Missouri Mavericks announced today the team’s newest game day host for
the 2012-13 season will be Shannon Oleen. Shannon will be introduced
and take part in the Mavericks’ Fan Fest this Saturday, September 8 at
Independence Events Center from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Shannon
Oleen, formerly McKain, is a native of Gladstone, Missouri and has been
a lifelong Kansas City sports fan. Most recently, Shannon cheered for
the Kansas City Chiefs and she has also stood on the sidelines for
Sporting KC and the Missouri Comets. Now, Shannon is widely recognized
not only as a former cheerleader, but as an acclaimed keynote speaker
and leading authority in finding passion, creating positive change and
reaching personal goals.
“We
are excited to have Shannon join us,” said Mavericks’ President and
General Manager Brent Thiessen. “She is going to be a big asset for the
Mavericks and she will help make our game days exciting, fresh and fun.
We can’t wait to have her join the staff for another exciting season
of Mavericks hockey.”
“Being
the host of our professional hockey team is an incredible way for me to
stay involved in sports,” said Oleen. “Hearing the crowd celebrate
after a Mavericks’ goal, visiting with fans and watching the fast-paced
action is exciting to me. This is exactly where I want to be.”
Shannon
is a graduate of William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri where she
studied political science and communication. When she isn’t hosting
games for the Mavericks or inspiring national audiences with her
message, Shannon enjoys teaching cheer and dance camps to youth
throughout the Midwest and spending time with family and friends.
